- Message for World Food Day, October 16, 2013 Pope Francis
It is an eye-opening moment to realize that many people still die from starvation or related illnesses. We often think of hunger as an issue that is “out there somewhere”. In reality, hunger is on our doorsteps. Food banks, school breakfast programs and the like are a few responses to a growing problem in our world. We cannot remain indifferent. We may feel powerless, but we can respond in our own way. Donations to local food programs, supporting long term solutions on a local and global scale are not just something nice to do. It is our obligation.
